Permit Procedures

Water Tap Permits

Individuals wishing to connect to a Southwest Metropolitan owned water main must first obtain a water tap from the District and a water supply license from Denver Water.

List of procedures to obtain a water permit:

  1. Application – Requests for a Southwest Metropolitan water tap permit may be made two business days prior by e-mailing Tayler Newkirk at tmnewkirk@plattecanyon.org.
  2. Once notified the permit is ready, water tap permit fees are due at the district office by check only made out to Southwest Metropolitan Water and Sanitation District.
  3. Permits must be signed and picked up by an authorized employee at which time they will receive the following documents:

a. District water tap permit

b. Denver Water Supply License

c. Jefferson County Availability Letter (if applicable)

Sewer Tap Permits

Individuals wishing to connect to a Southwest Metropolitan owned sewer main must first obtain a sewer tap from the District.

List of procedures to obtain a water permit:

  1. Application – Requests for a Southwest Metropolitan sewer tap permit may be made two business days prior by e-mailing Tayler Newkirk at tmnewkirk@plattecanyon.org.
  2. Once notified the permit is ready, sewer tap permit fees are due at the district office by check only made out to Southwest Metropolitan Water and Sanitation District.
  3. Permits must be signed and picked up by an authorized employee at which time they will receive the following documents:

a. District water tap permit

b. Jefferson County Availability Letter (if applicable)

Water Stub-in Permits

A permit may be issued by the District for a stub-in in order to allow the installation of a water service pipe prior to the paving of a street. A stub-in shall include a tap, a valve at the property line and all fittings and pipe necessary to extend the service pipe to the valve from the tap on the water main. Use of water from a stub-in is prohibited and any taking of water from a stub-in shall cause the stub-in permit to be revoked.

List of procedures to obtain a stub-in permit:

  1. Requests for a Southwest Metropolitan water stub-in permit may be made by e-mailing or mailing the application to request water and sewer tap permit one business day prior to purchasing the permit at the District office
