The district is pleased to welcome Avery Worland to the operations staff.
Avery is certified by the Colorado Water and Wastewater Operations Certification Board as a Level IV Water Distribution System Operator and as a Level III Wastewater Collection System Operator.
Avery’s duties include performing routine water maintenance such as exercising and inspecting valves; inspecting, flushing, and painting fire hydrants; and performing pressure monitoring and leak detection. He also facilitates maintenance to the district’s sewer infrastructure by performing CCTV (closed circuit television inspections), hydraulic cleaning, and root treatment/cutting in district owned mains.
As a district operator, Avery is also responsible for performing maintenance to the district’s pump and lift stations as well as responding to emergency situations like a water main failure or main line sewer back up.
Avery was previously employed at Castle Rock Water where he also maintained water and sewer infrastructure. Since working for the district he has “gained more experience in the water and sanitation industry by seeing how other districts maintain their infrastructure”.
When asked what drew him to this type of work, Avery said “he was inspired to work in the industry to help the community he grew up in by contributing to public health.”
With several years of industry experience and high levels of operator certifications, Avery is undoubtedly well-prepared to contribute effectively to the team. Outside of work he enjoys being outdoors, skiing, hiking, biking, and paddleboarding.
