Celebrating 40 and 20 Years of Service

Scott Hand Celebrates 40 Years with the District

Operations Supervisor, Scott Hand, has been with the District for 40 years. Scott started his career as an Operator I and, after being promoted to Operations Foreman, now serves as the District’s Operations Supervisor. He holds the highest levels of certification for water distribution system and wastewater collection system operations required by the Colorado Water and Wastewater Facility Operators Certification Board.

Scott is well known by many District customers as an employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty when responding to customer service requests, diagnosing problems, and executing repairs. It is apparent that Scott takes pride in his work. He appreciates the District’s “responsibility and respect to provide safe drinking water and wastewater services to all of our customers.”

When asked what his favorite part of working for the District is, Scott said “the staff. We are a small group of fifteen, most of us have been here a long time. Even knowing the newer members of the team will probably be here for a long time. It is like family here.”

Outside of work, Scott enjoys fishing, being with family, and appreciating the outdoors. Thank you, Scott, for 40 years of diligent work and dedication to the District and its customers!

Alyssa Quinn Celebrates 20 Years with the District

Business Programs Specialist, Alyssa Quinn, is celebrating 20 years with the District. In 2000 she was hired as a filing clerk while attending college. Alyssa served as an administrative assistant for several years and gradually became more involved in data and asset management, which led her to the position of the Business Programs Specialist.

Working for the District has enhanced Alyssa’s career development by “allowing for training and education opportunities that have allowed me to grow as an employee in my position and prepare myself for future promotions. They (the District) also allow for involvement in outside committees and groups, which helps to expand my network in the water community.”

Alyssa serves as the Chairperson for the Conservation Committee of the Denver Water Distributor Forum and also as the Distributor Representative for the Denver Water Citizens Advisory Committee. She is a board member for Colorado WaterWise.

When asked what her wish for the District is in the next 10 years, Alyssa said “Platte Canyon has always been a leader in the special district sector.  My hope is that the District continues to grow and expand in an innovative way with new technologies and processes that allow for the District customers to continue to receive the best service possible.”

When not working, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her two boys, Dylan (16), Cayden (12) and her husband Michael.  Hiking, traveling, and basketball are a few things that keep them busy. Thank you, Alyssa, for 20 years of persistent work and commitment to the District and its customers!
