Drought Status

According to the National Integrated Drought Information System (NIDIS), 49% of the state is currently experiencing some level of drought (with 82% being at least abnormally dry). The map featured above shows the drought conditions on October 25.

Winterize your sprinkler system. Typically around this time of year, the district responds to several service calls for frozen/busted irrigation lines.

Prep your pipes for freezing temps! Be sure your pipes are ready for the cold months ahead. Frozen or broken pipes are costly to repair and leave you without water.

Fall lawn care can prevent your lawn from getting strained during the coldest months ahead and help it reemerge healthy and lush in the springtime.

 

As of October 31, cumulative precipitation in the Colorado River watershed was tracking at 62% of average and the South Platte River watershed was tracking at 45% of average. 

Denver Water’s supply reservoir contents as of October 31 are represented in the table below. Reservoir totals are 86% full and were 85% full this time last year.
