Discolored Water Due to Valve Operation

In preparation for the water line construction in S. Kipling St. from W. Coal Mine Ave. to W. Fair Ave., Southwest Metro staff will be intermittently operating valves to facilitate construction. The valve operation may cause disruption of flow which loosens rust particles and sediment on old valves which can cause temporary discoloration in the water.

Affected neighborhoods include: Foothill Green, Powderhorn, Stanton Farms, Alpers Farm, Kipling Hills, Kipling Sun, Kipling Villas and Woodmar.

You may notice slightly yellow, orange, or brownish colored water coming from your faucet or in your toilet bowls in the next several days. Although not harmful, this can be disconcerting. To clear up any discolored water, flush your home plumbing system by running COLD water only from all faucets in the home for no less than five minutes.

If the discoloration persists, call the district at 303-979-2333 and we will assist with further flushing.
