Denver Water and City of Littleton 2025 Rates

New Denver Water rates start January 1st.

The Denver Board of Water Commissioners adopted rate changes to help pay for important upgrades, projects and ongoing maintenance and repair work to keep its system operating efficiently while keeping rates as low as good service will allow.

The new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2025, and for typical single-family residential customers who receive a bill from Denver Water, if they use the same amount of water in 2025 as they did in 2024, the new rates will increase their monthly bill by an average of about $2 to $3 over the course of the year.

The fixed monthly charge — which is tied to the size of the meter — is increasing by 66 cents in 2025, to $19.06 per month, for most single-family residential customers to ensure Denver Water is recovering 20% of its needed revenue from fixed charges.

A water bill is comprised of a volume rate for the amount of water used and also a fixed charge based on the size of your meter. Denver Water’s rate structure includes three tiers based on how much water you use. Indoor water use — for bathing, cooking and flushing toilets — is essential for human life and is charged at the lowest rate. Efficient outdoor water use is charged in the second tier (middle rate), followed by additional outdoor water use in the third tier (highest rate).

The 2025 volumetric water rates for district customers are shown in the following chart.

TierMonthly ConsumptionRates per 1,000 gallons
Tier 10 to average winter consumption (AWC)$2.98
Tier 2AWC + 15,000$5.36

Sewer rates likely to increase starting January 1st.

The City of Littleton’s 2025 budget proposes a sewer rate increase of 5% for all customers connected to the wastewater collection system. This is same increase that was imposed for 2024 as part of ongoing maintenance and capital improvements for the sewer system.

The South Platte Renew (SPR) treatment plant serves the cities of Littleton and Englewood as well as 19 connector districts within the 75 square mile service area. Littleton’s Sewer Utility Fund provides for the city’s 50% share of funding for the SPR treatment plant while maintaining the sanitary sewer collection lines within the collection area.
