2022 Water Main Replacement Project

Southwest Metro Water and Sanitation has contracted with Diamond Contracting Corp. to replace the water main in S. Kipling St. from north of W. Coal Mine Ave. to just south of W. Fair Ave.

Mobilization and traffic control is scheduled to start Monday, August 29.  Construction is anticipated to take approximately two months. This project will replace 2,239 feet of 16-inch ductile iron pipe with 16-inch PVC water pipe.

During construction, valve operation may cause disruption of flow which loosens rust particles and sediment on old valves which can cause temporary discoloration in the water.

Affected neighborhoods include: Foothill Green, Powderhorn, Stanton Farms, Alpers Farm, Kipling Hills, Kipling Sun, Kipling Villas and Woodmar.

You may notice slightly yellow, orange, or brownish colored water coming from your faucet or in your toilet bowls in the next several days. Although not harmful, this can be disconcerting. To clear up any discolored water, flush your home plumbing system by running COLD water only from all faucets in the home for no less than five minutes.

If the discoloration persists, call the district at 303-979-2333 and we will assist with further flushing.

If you should have any questions or comments regarding this project, please contact Tony Cocozzella at the District office at 303-979-2333.
