The three water main replacement projects scheduled for 2020 are complete. The details of each project are as follows:
Flower Way – Located in the Kipling Villas subdivision, this project replaced 357 feet of 6-inch cement pipe in S. Flower Way between W. Arbor Avenue and the fire hydrant on the corner end of S. Flower Way with 6-inch PVC pipe. The fire hydrant on the corner end of S. Flower Way was also replaced. Final paving for this project was completed on June 12.
Walden Avenue – Located in the Meadows subdivision, this project replaced 377 feet of 12-inch ductile iron pipe in W. Walden Avenue between S. Independence Way and S. Hoyt Court with 12-inch PVC pipe. This relatively short segment of pipe has experienced four failures, with the most recent one in 2019. Final paving for this project was completed on June 12.
Polo Ridge Drive – Located in the Polo Reserve subdivision, this project replaced 788 feet of 12-inch PVC pipe with 6-inch PVC pipe on Polo Ridge Drive from Thoroughbred Run to the end of the cul-de-sac. The previous pipeline was installed with the intention of connecting to and serving future development which is no longer feasible. Since this development was not constructed, it became necessary to downsize the water main to ensure water quality parameters are met. Final paving for this project was completed on July 17.
Due to our current situation, the District did not have Informational Pop-Up tents for this year’s capital projects. All communications to impacted customers were handled via mail or door to door interaction while maintaining social distancing requirements.
